The Waxman-Markey Bill has been flushed out as a Trojan Horse full of Subsidies and Tax breaks for the Oil & Coal industries.

The Voters only have themselves to blame, they send the same jokers back to Washington year after year.

There is nothing more important to the future of Americana and our continued freedom, than weaning off of Imported Oil. The Waxman-Markey bill is an amazing bureaucracy that will waste tax payer and consumer dollars while doing nothing to help make the USA energy independent.

Dear Congress Woman Barbara Lee,

Please stop this bad piece of Legislation.

I am writing to express my opposition to the Kerry/Boxer and Waxman-Markey (HR 2454) climate bills, especially their cap-and-trade and carbon offset provisions. These proposed climate bills would allow all required greenhouse-gas reductions for almost 20 years to be met with 2 billion tons of carbon offsets annually, rather than actual reductions of fossil fuel emissions from the “capped” sources.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (November 2008, www.gao.gov/products/GAO-09-151) has confirmed that it is impossible to judge the integrity of offsets (”it is impossible to know with certainty whether any given project is additional.” p.39). As a result, these bills would show progress on paper, while creating perverse incentives and allowing degradation in the climate. They would enrich offset investors, fossil-fuel interests, certifiers and carbon traders, without helping us move towards a clean-energy economy or reduce total greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Please help defeat these bills and their cap-and-trade and offset provisions. Energy efficiency standards, smart grid and transmission line studies and green job training are all steps in the right direction. However, there will not be very many “green jobs” unless we have a climate bill that actually corrects the competitive-price advantage that fossil fuels continue to enjoy over clean energy alternatives.

Please consider the option of carbon fees with monthly per-person rebates as presented in the 10-minute YouTube Video “The Huge Mistake” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLHCvYj0kzk) and in the following articles: www.carbonfees.org/home/EnvirFinance03_09.pdf (shorter version) and www.carbonfees.org/home/Cap-and-TradeVsCarbonFees.pdf (longer version). Thank you for your consideration.
